Kaua`i Sailing Association is based at Nawiliwili Harbor on the island of Kaua`i, Hawaii. With more than 50 years of combined experience, their friendly and knowledgeable staff offer personalized sailing instruction suitable for all skill levels. The oceanfront clubhouse provides a relaxed setting to learn new skills, build confidence, and enjoy the beautiful tropical environment. Thanks to Kaua`i’s warm climate, steady trade winds, and comfortable water temperatures, classes are available year-round, making it easy to fit sailing into any schedule.

Located at Nawiliwili Harbor in Lihue, our sailing school offers a welcoming environment for those eager to learn the art of sailing. With consistent access to the calm, warm waters of Kaua`i, students can gain practical sailing skills while enjoying the island’s natural beauty. Our experienced staff tailor instruction to all skill levels, ensuring a supportive and educational experience that prepares you to confidently navigate the waters around Kaua`i and beyond.
Getting There
From the mainland United States, you'll likely fly into Daniel K. Inouye International Airport in Honolulu (HNL), which is the largest and most convenient gateway to Hawaii. From Honolulu, you can catch a direct flight to Lihue Airport (LIH) on Kauai, which is just a short drive from Nawiliwili Harbor where the Kaua`i Sailing Association is located. Once you arrive on Kauai, rental cars and ride-hailing services like Uber and Lyft are readily available at the airport to take you to our location. If you prefer, some hotels and resorts also offer shuttle services to the harbor area. Upon reaching Nawiliwili Harbor, follow the signs to the waterfront, where our oceanfront clubhouse is situated. We recommend planning your transportation in advance to ensure a smooth and relaxed journey to start your sailing adventure.
Best Time to Go
The best time to sail in Kaua`i is during the dry season from April through October, when the weather tends to be sunnier and the winds are steady enough to enjoy a relaxing day on the water. Early mornings and late afternoons often offer calm conditions, making it an ideal time to get out on the ocean.
