Learning to sail from Glencoe offers an experience surrounded by iconic Highland landscapes, with access to sea lochs like Loch Leven and Loch Linnhe. These waters provide a unique and often sheltered environment for initial training, with the stunning mountain scenery creating an unforgettable backdrop for your course.
The main international airports serving this region of the Scottish Highlands are Glasgow Airport (GLA), which is roughly a 2 hour drive south, and Inverness Airport (INV), about a 1.5 to 2 hour drive to the northeast. Renting a car from either airport is highly recommended for flexibility in reaching Glencoe and exploring the area.
The period from May to September generally provides the most suitable conditions for sailing activities in the Glencoe area. During these months, you can expect longer daylight, the best chance of milder weather, and more settled conditions on the sea lochs, making it a good time for instruction amongst the stunning Highland scenery.
