The Area
Largs Yacht Haven is a superb, modern marina providing an excellent base for sail training with immediate access to the varied sailing grounds of the Firth of Clyde. The area offers both sheltered waters for beginners and more open conditions for advanced learners, all amidst beautiful Scottish scenery.
Getting There
Glasgow Airport (GLA) is the primary international airport for accessing Largs Yacht Haven, located about a 40-50 minute drive away. You can rent a car or take a taxi from the airport. Alternatively, Largs train station has good connections from Glasgow Central, which is easily reached from the airport.
Best Time to Go
The main sailing season around Largs is from May through September. This period typically offers the best conditions for instruction, with milder weather, extended daylight, and more reliable winds for exploring the Firth of Clyde and nearby islands.
