The Area
Mooloolaba Marina offers an excellent and accessible base for learning to sail, with a protected harbour and easy access to the open waters off the Sunshine Coast. The area provides good conditions for instruction, allowing students to experience coastal sailing while enjoying the region's renowned sunny weather.
Getting There
The closest airport to Mooloolaba is Sunshine Coast Airport (MCY), located in Marcoola, which is only about a 15-20 minute drive away. Brisbane Airport (BNE), a major international gateway, is about an hour to an hour and a half's drive to the south. From either airport, shuttle services, taxis, ride hailing services, and car rentals are available to get you to Mooloolaba Marina.
Best Time to Go
The Sunshine Coast offers great sailing conditions for much of the year, but particularly from April through to November. During these months, you'll generally find pleasant temperatures, clearer skies, and more consistent southerly or southeasterly breezes, making it ideal for learning to sail and enjoying the coastal waters.
