At Southern Cross Yachting in Manly, Queensland, we offer a range of RYA courses, including Competent Crew and Day Skipper, from our base at East Coast Marina. East Coast Marina in Manly is perfectly positioned for accessing the expansive sailing grounds of Moreton Bay. The bay's sheltered waters and numerous islands provide an excellent and varied environment for students to learn everything from basic boat handling to more advanced navigation and seamanship skills.
How to get there
For those travelling to East Coast Marina in Manly, Brisbane Airport (BNE) is the main international and domestic gateway. The marina is approximately a 20-30 minute drive from the airport. Taxis, ride hailing services, and car rentals are all convenient options for making the journey.
Best time to go
The best time for sailing in Moreton Bay is generally from April through to November. This period typically offers pleasant weather with consistent breezes, making it ideal for RYA courses. The winter months (June-August) often bring clear skies and gentle winds, while the shoulder seasons provide warm, sunny conditions.
