The Area
Cannigione, on the northeast coast of Sardinia, provides an exceptional base for sail training, with direct access to the Maddalena Archipelago National Park and the Costa Smeralda. The area is renowned for its clear turquoise waters, numerous sheltered anchorages, and reliable winds, creating an ideal and beautiful environment for developing sailing skills.
Getting There
To reach Cannigione in Sardinia, the most convenient international airport is Olbia Costa Smeralda Airport (OLB). From Olbia, Cannigione is approximately a 30-40 minute drive. Taxis and car rentals are available at the airport, and there are also bus services connecting Olbia to Arzachena and then Cannigione.
Best Time to Go
The best time for sailing in northeastern Sardinia, including Cannigione and the Maddalena Archipelago, is from May through October. During these months, you'll typically experience warm, sunny weather, excellent sea conditions, and winds like the Mistral or Scirocco that provide good sailing, though they can be strong at times. The shoulder months of May, June, September, and October often offer a great balance of good weather and fewer crowds.
