About the school
Join Miceli Vela in the beautiful setting of Porto Santo Stefano to begin or continue your sailing journey with our RYA courses. We offer programs like Competent Crew and Day Skipper, giving you the chance to learn in the stunning waters of the Argentario peninsula. Our aim is to provide a welcoming and effective learning experience.
The location
Porto Santo Stefano, nestled on the Argentario promontory in Tuscany, offers a superb natural harbor and immediate access to the clear waters around the Tuscan Archipelago, making it an inspiring location for sail training. The area's scenic beauty and variable coastline provide excellent opportunities for students to develop a broad range of sailing skills.
How to get there
The most convenient major international airports to reach Porto Santo Stefano are Rome Fiumicino (FCO), approximately 150 km away, or Pisa (PSA), around 200 km away. From either airport, renting a car is often the most straightforward option for reaching the Argentario area. Alternatively, you can take a train from Rome or Pisa to Orbetello-Monte Argentario station, and then a short taxi ride to Porto Santo Stefano.
Best time to go
The best time for sailing around Porto Santo Stefano and the Argentario coast is generally from late spring (May) to early autumn (October). During these months, you'll find warm weather, pleasant sea temperatures, and typically good sailing breezes, making it ideal for RYA courses and enjoying the beautiful Tuscan islands.
