The area’s sheltered waters and consistent wind conditions provide an ideal environment for beginners to gain confidence and develop their skills. Our classroom and fleet are situated at the C Dock, Slip 1 on Washington Street, providing easy access to the marina and nearby maritime amenities. This location allows students to experience real sailing conditions while benefiting from the supportive community and maritime heritage of Port Townsend.
Fly into Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA), which is the closest major gateway. From there, you can rent a car or arrange a ride-hailing service for the approximately 2.5 to 3-hour drive north to Port Townsend. Once in Port Townsend, follow local signs to Washington Street; sail-port-townsend is located at 2790 Washington St., C Dock, Slip 1. If you prefer, some shuttle services and private car transports are available from Seattle to Port Townsend. Upon arrival, our school is easily accessible on the waterfront, ready to welcome you aboard for your sailing adventure.
The best time to sail in Port Townsend is from late spring through early fall, with July and August offering the warmest weather and the most consistent wind conditions. This period provides ideal conditions for learning and enjoying time on the water.
