Getting There
To reach the Maryland School of Sailing and Seamanship, start by flying into Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), which is the closest major airport. From there, you can rent a car or arrange a ride-hailing service such as Uber or Lyft for the approximately 1-hour drive south to Rock Hall, MD. Once in Rock Hall, follow local signs to Lankford Bay Marina on McKinleyville Road. If you prefer not to drive, several shuttle services and private transportation options are available from BWI, and some local taxi companies can assist with the trip. Upon arrival at Lankford Bay Marina, the school is located within the marina complex, where you’ll find ample parking and easy access to the boats and classrooms.
Best Time to Go
The best time to sail in the Rock Hall area is from late spring through early fall, with warm temperatures and generally calm waters in June, July, and August. Early mornings and late afternoons tend to offer the most comfortable conditions, making it ideal for cruising and training.
