Fly into Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport (BWI), the nearest major airport. From there, you can rent a car or use ride-hailing services like Uber or Lyft to reach 233 Nanticoke Rd in Essex, MD, about a 15-20 minute drive. If you prefer public transportation, take the Light RailLink from BWI to Baltimore’s Camden Station, then transfer to a taxi or ride-hailing service for the short trip to Markleys Marina. Once at the marina, follow signs to the sailing school located on the tranquil shores of Chesapeake Bay.
The best time to sail on Chesapeake Bay is from late spring through early fall, with warm temperatures and steady breezes making for enjoyable conditions on the water. Early mornings and late afternoons often offer the most comfortable sailing experience, especially as the summer heats up.
