The area’s mild climate and steady breezes make it a comfortable and reliable environment for developing sailing skills year-round.

Getting There

To reach Harbor Sailboats from San Diego International Airport (SAN), simply exit the airport and pick up a rental car or use a ride-hailing service like Uber or Lyft for a convenient 10-15 minute drive. Head north on N Harbor Drive, then turn left onto Harbor Island Drive. Continue along Harbor Island Drive until you reach 2040 Harbor Island Drive, where you'll find our dock and facilities on the west end of Harbor Island. If you're arriving by train, Amtrak services San Diego's downtown station; from there, you can rent a car or take a taxi directly to Harbor Sailboats. We recommend using a ride-hailing service for the most straightforward transportation to our location, ensuring a relaxed start to your sailing adventure.

Best Time to Go

The optimal time to sail in San Diego Bay is from late spring through early fall, when the weather is warm and the winds are steady around 10-15 knots. Summer months, especially July and August, tend to offer the most reliable sailing conditions with consistent breezes and mild temperatures.
