Sivota Bay, on the southeastern coast of Lefkada Island, is a perfect starting point for beginner sailors. Its calm, sheltered waters and gentle conditions make it an easy and stress-free place to learn the basics of sailing. The bay is well-equipped with marinas and facilities, and its proximity to nearby islands offers short, manageable sailing trips ideal for building confidence while exploring the beauty of the Ionian Sea.
PVK and CFU airports are closest to Lefkada but it is sometimes easier to fly into Athens (ATH) and then renting a car and driving which takes 4+ hours.
The best time to sail in Sivota Bay and the surrounding Ionian Sea is between May and October, when the weather is warm and the winds are generally light and predictable. July and August are the busiest months, while May, June, and September offer quieter conditions ideal for beginners.
