Although our shore based courses are in the Czech Republic, we at NYS Sailing School conduct our practical RYA certification courses here in beautiful Kastela, Croatia. We focus on giving you quality hands on experience on the Adriatic. Whether you are starting out or building on existing skills, we provide a supportive environment for your learning.
Getting There
Marina Kastela offers an excellent base for sail training, being well protected and providing easy access to the diverse sailing areas around Split and the nearby islands. The local waters offer clear conditions for learning navigation and boat handling skills.
Best Time to Go
To join us at Marina Kastela, you will fly into Split Airport (SPU). Our base is very conveniently located between Split city and the airport, just a short 15 minute car journey. Taxis and ride hailing services like Uber are readily available at the airport for this quick trip.

With a history rooted in family tradition, the school combines traditional sailing methods passed down through generations with modern techniques taught through the ASA program. Students of all ages and experience levels are welcome to learn here, whether they’re families, couples, or singles. The school offers a variety of courses and excursions, allowing students to explore scenic towns, national parks, and islands while gaining practical sailing skills. On the first day, students visit a grocery store together to select their preferred provisions, and instructors share tips on meal planning for life on board. With a fleet of Beneteau and Jeanneau boats, as well as the chance to sail on a restored 75-foot antique vessel, Adriatic Sailing provides a relaxed environment for learning and enjoying the sea.
