Beyond the harbour, the Cork coastline offers more challenging waters and beautiful scenery for developing further skills.
The location
To reach Kinsale, the nearest major airport is Cork Airport (ORK), which is conveniently located only about a 20-30 minute drive away. Taxis and car rentals are readily available at Cork Airport. For those travelling from further afield internationally, Dublin Airport (DUB) is another option, though it would involve a longer onward journey to Kinsale by car (approx 2.5-3 hours) or by coach.
How to get there
The main sailing season in Kinsale generally runs from May to September. During these months, you can expect milder weather, longer daylight hours, and more settled conditions, although Irish weather can always be variable. This period typically offers the most comfortable environment for learning to sail and exploring the beautiful coastline.
