Irish Offshore Sailing

About the school

Here at Irish Offshore Sailing, we offer courses all year round from Dun Laoghaire Marina, catering for absolute beginners right through to those aspiring to be professional skippers. Since 2010, we've been helping people discover sailing in Dublin Bay, and thanks to heaters on our boats, even winter sailing is comfortable. We're always happy to chat and help you find the right course for your goals.

The location

Dun Laoghaire provides an excellent training ground within Dublin Bay, offering a genuine coastal feel with conditions that allow for solid real world experience. The large marina is a key sailing hub, giving you a great start to explore and learn, with the convenience of city access for when you are ashore.

How to get there

If you are arriving by air, Dublin Airport (DUB) is your destination. From there, a taxi or a ride hailing service like Uber is the most direct way to reach Dun Laoghaire Marina, typically a 35 minute journey. Just set your destination for Dun Laoghaire Marina or Harbour Road, and you will be brought right to the waterfront.

Best time to go

While we sail throughout the year, the period from May to September generally offers the mildest weather, calmer sea conditions, and longer daylight hours for sailing in Dublin. This time also coincides with some enjoyable local festivals. That said, our boats are equipped for year round comfort, so you can join us whenever suits you best.
