The Area

Located within Boston Harbor Shipyard and Marina in East Boston, our school offers convenient access for students coming from both near and far. Just a short drive from Logan International Airport and easily accessible by road, our location provides a peaceful setting for on-the-water learning without the congestion of downtown Boston. From here, we sail in Boston Harbor and surrounding islands, giving students the opportunity to develop their skills in a variety of conditions and navigate the scenic waters of the area. Our proximity allows for regular trips and courses along the east coast, providing a comprehensive sailing experience in a supportive environment.

Getting There

First Reef Sailing is conveniently accessible from Boston's Logan International Airport, located just about a 5-minute drive away. After arriving at the airport, you can easily reach our school by taxi, ride-hailing services like Uber or Lyft, or rental car. If you prefer public transportation, you can take a short taxi or ride-share to the nearby Maverick or Airport subway stations, which connect to the Blue Line leading directly to East Boston. From there, a quick drive or walk will bring you to the Boston Harbor Shipyard and Marina where our school is located. For those driving from outside the city, ample parking is available on-site. Once at the marina, follow the signs to First Reef Sailing within the East Boston area.

Best Time to Go

The best time to sail in Boston Harbor is from late spring through early fall, with warm temperatures and steady breezes typically occurring between June and September. During this period, the weather is generally mild and ideal for both beginner and experienced sailors to enjoy the water.
