The Area
The Porto de Recreio de Oeiras, situated on the Estoril coast near Lisbon, offers an excellent location for sail training with direct access to the Atlantic and the Tagus Estuary. This provides a variety of sailing conditions, from more sheltered waters to open sea, which is beneficial for comprehensive learning.
Getting There
To reach us at Porto de Recreio de Oeiras, you will fly into Lisbon Portela Airport (LIS), also known as Humberto Delgado Airport. From the airport, Oeiras is approximately a 20-30 minute drive by car or taxi. Ride hailing services are also available. Alternatively, you can take the Metro from the airport to Cais do Sodré station in Lisbon and then a coastal train towards Cascais, alighting at Oeiras station, which is a short distance from the marina.
Best Time to Go
The best time for sailing from Oeiras and the Lisbon coast is typically from April to October. During these months, you'll find warmer temperatures, more sunshine, and the reliable Portuguese trade winds, known as the Nortada, especially in the afternoons, which provide excellent conditions for sailing courses.
