As the only RYA recognised training centre on North America’s west coast, Sea to Sky Sailing in West Vancouver offers the complete RYA pathway. From beginner courses like Start Yachting and Competent Crew, through to Yachtmaster qualifications, you'll learn on our modern fleet with commercially endorsed instructors. We're dedicated to providing high quality RYA standard training.
The location
Our base in West Vancouver offers stunning views and access to the beautiful waters of Howe Sound and the Salish Sea. This area provides a diverse range of sailing conditions and spectacular Pacific Northwest scenery, making it an inspiring and effective place to learn and practice your sailing skills.
How to get there
Vancouver International Airport (YVR) is the closest and most convenient airport for reaching us, typically only a 30-40 minute drive to West Vancouver depending on traffic. While Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA) is an option, it's significantly further, involving a drive of 2.5 hours or more, plus a border crossing. From YVR, taxis, ride hailing services, and car rentals are all readily available.
Best time to go
July and August are generally the best months for sailing in the Vancouver area, as this period typically brings the driest weather and long, warm days with sunsets often after 9pm. You can expect comfortable temperatures and moderate humidity, creating excellent conditions for your RYA training courses.
