About the school
Ocean Youth Trust Scotland provides young people with the exciting opportunity to experience adventure under sail through our RYA recognised voyages. Based in Greenock, our programmes, including elements of the Competent Crew syllabus, are designed to build confidence, teamwork, and life skills. We welcome young individuals to join us for a unique and developmental experience on the water.
The location
Our voyages from Greenock on the Firth of Clyde give young people access to a fantastic and varied sailing area, ideal for learning teamwork and seamanship. The waters of the Clyde and the nearby Scottish islands provide a challenging yet rewarding environment for youth development through sail training.
How to get there
For those joining our voyages, Greenock is best accessed via Glasgow. Glasgow Airport (GLA) is the closest international airport, about a 30 minute drive from Greenock. There are also excellent train connections from Glasgow Central Station directly to Greenock Central or Greenock West stations, which are near our usual embarkation points.
Best time to go
Our main youth voyage season typically runs from spring through to autumn, roughly April to October. This period provides the most favorable weather and daylight conditions for extended sailing trips around Scotland's west coast, allowing young people to fully engage in the sail training experience.
